An intermediate woodwind trio divided into two sections. The first section serenades with a gentle lullaby, evoking a sense of tranquility and sweetness. Following this, the music bursts into the lively chaos of a romp through the woods, with spirited melodies dancing amidst the rustling leaves and playful echoes of nature.

Intrada for Brass Quintet

Originally written for the Kansas City Horn Club. The inspiration for the piece came from the motto of the state of Kansas, meaning “to the stars through difficulties.” It incorporates a variation of the Kansas state song, “Home on the Range.”

Living in the Light

On December 18, 2022, the Leawood United Methodist Chancel Choir and Kansas City area musicians premiered “Living in the Light”, a cantata by Gavin Lendt, conducted by Melanie Melcher Cuthbertson. This work was inspired by the Leawood UMC’s Advent worship series and incorporated various Advent and Christmas carols as well as original music.
